Overview

The Philippine Criminal Justice System is a vital course that explores its five primary components formerly referred to as the “five pillars”, which work together to promote justice, public safety, and order. First is Law Enforcement, responsible for crime prevention, investigation, and apprehension of suspects. Next is the Prosecution, which evaluates evidence and files charges to initiate criminal proceedings. The Court then takes charge of fair and impartial adjudication, upholding due process and ensuring justice is served. Following conviction, the Correctional component manages the rehabilitation and safe custody of offenders. Lastly, the Community plays a key role in reintegrating rehabilitated offenders into society and supporting crime prevention through active involvement. Together, these five components aim to ensure justice is properly administered, balancing society’s safety with the protection of individual rights.
